If you hurt your back or are suffering from routine aches and pains, you might just want to lie down and wait for it to pass. However, experts agree that bed rest not only delays recovery, but may even worsen your pain.
Clinical practice guidelines from the American College of Physicians and the American Pain Society strongly recommend that low back pain sufferers remain active when faced with discomfort.
The guidelines indicate that, instead of spending a painful day in bed, patients should try moving around to keep muscles from stiffening and weakening.
However, if you follow this advise, use caution. You don’t want to injure yourself with the wrong motion.
If you’re suffering from back pain, get out of bed and schedule an appointment with a professional chiropractor today.
