Blisters are a big annoyance for many athletes. Part of preventing them is knowing what happens before they show up. If you’re trying to stop blisters, there’s one thing you need to look for: hot spots.
If you don’t know, a hot spot is simply what it sounds like: a red spot on your foot that feels unusually warm. This is usually the beginning of a blister, and if you have one, you should shield it to keep it protected. This will reduce the irritation and make it less likely for a blister to form.
Good material for hot spots can include tape or padded socks.
